->>There will be no spoilers or specifics for this fantastic horror flick; just a couple of my own thoughts. I'll try to keep it short, but this is a REALLY good one, and it's gonna be very difficult not to gush....at least a TEENSY WEENSY bit.

The Conjuring (2013) is one of my favorite paranormal/supernatural horror films of all time, and my absolute favorite James Wan project to date. The man is certainly one of the best directors currently working in the horror genre. I mentioned in my review of Insidious (2010) just how much I appreciate the way that Wan almost never uses stationary camera angles and/or movements in his work. I'm not saying literally never, but I am saying that it's probably something like 75-80% of the shots in his films all have this sort of creeping, floating, and swaying aspect to them that I absolutely adore. It really draws you in and makes you feel like you're right there in the room with whatever ghostly apparition is haunting the characters. The camera work in cinematography in this film alone are enough to set the tone and feeling of the world, and they are both fantastic. Then you have that fantastic, discordant and haunting score by Joseph Bishara that serves to completely immerse you in atmosphere so thick that you can barely breathe. I love it so much!

Additionally, it should be said that I absolutely love Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. They're both world-class actors, and they have a wonderful, synchronous chemistry in this film. I'm not sure that they perfectly embody the real-life people that they're portraying on screen, but they are phenomenal nonetheless. As I said, I don't really want to get into too many details. To that end, I'm not going to launch into a whole thing about how the real Ed and Lorraine Warren are scam artists (they most certainly are). I'm not religious, but I still found it very easy to love this film. Because of this, I think that if you give it a fighting chance you'll love it just as much. At the very least, you'll like it quite a bit. :)

Alright, before I talk your ear completely off the side of your head, I'm just going to go ahead and give this one its score so that you can go watch it yourself. I more than happily award the conjuring a nearly perfect 4.8/5 stars.
