The Conjuring 2 is a solid follow-up to the original, delivering a gripping and atmospheric horror experience. James Wan returns to direct with his signature style, bringing back the beloved paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played once again by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. This time, the film focuses on the infamous Enfield haunting in London, and the change in setting adds a fresh feel to the sequel.
The movie excels in its suspenseful build-up, eerie visuals, and strong performances. Wilson and Farmiga’s chemistry continues to ground the supernatural story with emotional weight, making their relationship just as engaging as the horror elements. The film has several memorable scares, including the chilling introduction of the demon nun Valak, which has become iconic in its own right.
While The Conjuring 2 is a worthy sequel, it doesn’t quite reach the same tightness as the first film. Some moments feel a bit drawn out, and the final act, while exciting, leans more into spectacle than the subtle, nerve-wracking tension that made the original stand out. Still, it’s a fantastic horror film with great atmosphere, strong performances, and plenty of frights.

You don't need to know about The Conjuring universe to follow it but Vera Farmiga & Patrick Wilson reprise their roles as the Warrens on sabbatical following the 1976 investigation of Amityville.
In Enfield, a market town in north London, children experience a haunting by a male entity speaking through the youngest daughter. Enter the Warrens. James Wan tells his story through a tight lens, focusing on the close-knit Hodgson family where Peggy raises 4 kids on spare change.
Wan again uses original photographs interposed with actors, as well as corroborations of police officers, appearing briefly, but which add a stamp of authenticity to the haunting.
Any good film introduces relationships between characters. The on-going love story of Lorraine & Ed, shown through a moment of joy, is a respite at Christmas. This scene is what makes Wan so terrific -& he has the perfect actors for the role. But I won't spoil it :)
All the child actors are terrific & Frances O' Connor (Peggy) delivers a panicked nervousness which rings true. The beginning of the film, involving a nun who hints at Ed's death, follows from the previous movie. But the threat is neatly revisited in the final struggle of The Conjuring 2.
It's a film packed with complexity & efficient special effects. Wan knows how to draw in his audience & leave them guessing before an epiphany whips up the pace cracking through to a nail biting climax.
->>Wonderful sequel in the Conjuring universe. This story is scary more than the movie is scary. Rather than jumps or scares it is the enfolding tale that holds the fright. In the 70s Lorraine and Ed Warren first attend to the famous Amityville haunting hoax. Then they travel to London to try to deal with England's analog, the Enfield murders. The acting, directing and editing are spot on. A family of a single mother and her two girls and two boys live in a dilapidated council house that is creepy and falling down around them. In that shambles of a home the younger girl is levitating, speaking in a gruff old-man voice, and terrorizing her whole family as well as her own self. Enter the Warrens. This being a movie rather than a documentary they fix things up lickety-split, after they are asked to leave (a nod to the real events) and then return when Lorraine finally gets a vision telling her the place is indeed haunted. One of the things I take exception to, lowering my rating to four stars, is that there is no reason for the zoetrope to go into the basement of fear at the Warren's joint. No demon lives in the antique toy. Even its inclusion in the story feels like a sore thumb.

I loved it from start to finish and Everyone's acting is outstanding.
The Dog turning in to Crooked Man is truly amazing and imaginative, The first Nun scene sent shivers through My whole body and gave me goosebumps (had to pause it and put the light on for 5 minutes at this point lol) and as for Bill Wilkins..... well He is super creepy.
The whole entire movie is great
Conjuring 2 is the absolute definition of a horror movie.

I found it hard to sleep after watching it and that's what it is about, the Movie had an effect
->> I must say, the sequel to the blockbuster horror movie "The Conjuring" fails a little to impress, as it contains too many illogical scenes, like the crooked man, which looks like a cartoon monster, the girl Janet finding herself sticking to the ceiling, and many other scenes. What is most dissappointing is that the movie doesn't even tell the true story of the Enfield haunting. I know that they have to add fake scares to terrorize the audience, but the movie missed so many important details to the real Enfield haunting case; like in the real interview, Janet and her sister both were laughing which lead the people to suspect that they might be making the story up. Also, the real-life Janet was lifted up from the bed in the air, which was the first haunting that happened in the house.
The movie uses good scares and the jumpscares are good too, but sometimes, they are a bit exprcted. The dark visuals are definitely enpowering. The acting is strong, too. Overall, I recommend this movie if you are looking for a dark sequel, but "The Conjuring" will always win the best.
